Description
A pair of early 19th century French First Empire 950 standard silver candlesticks, Paris 1805-09 by Richard-Emile Agu (reg. 1805-6) The bases of circular form with anthemion edge and flat chased laurel wreath. The central column with three lion paw feet with die-rolled border, the capitals with stylised leaves fitted with removable circular sconces with anthemion edge. Makers mark and guarantee mark to undersides and inside of capitals, standard mark (1798-1809) and guarantee mark to foot rim and sconces, also with later guarantee mark (1838-1962).
