Description
Large Victrola shaped, porcelain coated, cast iron, coal/wood burning stove marked "Dauntless 174 - The Wehrle Co - No Newark Ohio 46"on the front when you open the door. Stove is porcelain coated with faux graining simulating mahogany wood grain finish. Porcelain coating is in above average, original condition. Has firebrick lined interior. Cast iron belly is in good shape. Shaker grates are present as well as the original shaker handle. One lower perimeter grate is broken. Has original ash pan located in the bottom. This unusual piece was intended to resemble a Victrola. This was an effort to make an unsightly cast iron stove look more like a fine piece of furniture which would have been a common sight in the parlor in the early days of the 20th century. Commonly referred to as a "Heatrola". Comes with the base, legs and chimney. Measures 71" tall from the legs to the top of the chimney and 23" wide. See photos.
