DUG BUTTONS, MUSKET BALLS & MORE FL SEMINOLE WAR SITES
Dug artifacts from the Second Seminole War (1835-1842) and later conflicts. Dug on private land in the vicinity of forts and sites in Florida. Locations and artifacts include:
- Fort Peyton near St. Augustine. Artifacts include buttons and .63 caliber musket balls.
- Jernigan near Orlando. Artifacts include nails, hinges, musket balls and buck shots. One nail is marked by M.H. Collins, patented in September 19, 1865. One metal clip is marked C.R. Harris, patented December 22, 1885.
- Fort Mason near Umatilla. Artifacts include pieces of buckles, musket balls or buck shots, and a Civil War Confederate Infantry button by Isaacs Campbell.
- Fort Heilman near Middleburg. Artifacts include musket balls and buck shots.
Approximate weight: 3 lbs.Â
Condition
Good with patination and oxidation to artifacts. Confederate infantry button is dented.
