Chinese Song Dynasty porcelain Geyao Gu vase, having a wide mouth with a darkened rim. Of a cylindrical body on a flat base with ribbed middle section. Covered throughout with beige glaze and wide ice crackles. Stands approx. 6.25" high (15.8cm). Provenance: Professor Wu Jilu's Chinese porcelain collection of Sung & Ming Dynasty ceramics. Prof. Wu Jilu was a professor in Chinese Literature and an avid collector of Chinese porcelain antiques, especially those with strong Sung Dynasty style & flavor. He owned a collection of over 100 items from China’s Sung, Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties. He had purchased most of those collections from various antiques shops and small auction houses across the world over the past 25 years. Some of his antique collections were auctioned by major auction houses, such as Sotheby’s and China’s Guardian Auction in Hong Kong. Holds Asian Art label to bottom.
