A LARGE 19TH CENTURY SILVER TEAPOT, import marks, by William Brown, London 1843, chased and embossed in the style of David Teniers with figures cavorting, dancing and drinking outside a tavern. 22cm high, 33.5 troy ounces
Condition
Marks to base well struck and well spaced - further marked with lion passant, conforming date letter and maker's mark to inside of lid; and maker's mark, monarch and lion passant to both finial and handle. Also with additional import/export marks including '925' and 'p' to base. Lid hinge slightly loose. Stands upright, slight wobble between feet. Section of top insulator lacking. Evidence of two small patch repairs to front shell-form above spout. Dents/nicks to tip of spout. Vacant cartouche on lid. Light surface marks and scratches commensurate with age and use
