The brooch comes from the estate of Hollywood costume designer Annalisa Nasalli-Rocca, who was known for her work on The Pink Panther, Julia and Ashanti. The piece comes with a notarized copy of the original letter of provenance from the granddaughter of Nasalli-Rocca, which states that Nasalli-Rocca was friends with Taylor and the pair often gave each other clothing and accessories (the original letter accompanies lot 13 in this sale). Elizabeth Taylor was one of the most popular stars of classical Hollywood cinema in the 1950s, and continued her career into the 60s and remained a well-known public figure for the rest of her life.
