A Fine Anglo Indian Carved Sandalwood Sewing Box, 19th Century

Of sarcophagus form, raised on four brass paw shaped supports. The lid and sides finely carved with with carved with birds and flowers and surrounded by a border accented with iv*ry and decorated with inlaid arabesques. The interior with a compartmentalized and and including iv*ry cotton barrels with mosaic tops, iv*ry thimble and five other compartments, all similarly decorated and carved. The back of the lid fitted with a mirror. Including the original key/lock mechanism.
