Description
North America, United States or Canada, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A fishing net with an iron hoop and a set of rivets at each end to make this a folding net. A threaded bolt protrudes from one end for securing a pole or handle to the hoop. The cording is knotted to form a mesh with large holes indicating that this was probably meant for large fish. This net probably aided the fisherman by snagging the fish after reeling it in to the shore or boat. This net is a nice piece of vintage tackle that could make a fine mantlepiece alongside some fishing trophies. Size (hoop): 21.25" L (54 cm); (netting): 16" L (40.6 cm)
