This lot consists of a graphite and watercolor illustration on paper. A playful, modernist image. A handwritten inscription can be seen at lower right corner. Light washes of color play off one another in a brilliant display that is cohesive with the pioneering abstract style of Wassily Kandinsky (Russian-French, 1866-1944). This unframed piece measures approximately 8" x 5.75".

Kandinsky's creation of abstract work followed a long period of development and maturation of intense thought based on his artistic experiences. He called this devotion to inner beauty, fervor of spirit, and spiritual desire inner necessity; it was a central aspect of his art.
