This lot consists of a framed oil painting on canvas board, done in the pioneering abstract style of Whanki Kim (Korean, 1913-1974). This beautifully textured image depicts a melange of overlapping forms. Shades of coral, teal, and lavender are interposed with delicate line and modern shape. Hand-painted inscription at bottom center. Framed measurements approximately 17.75" x 20.25". Reverse side of piece features an affixed paper label."

Whanki Kim (Korean, 1913-1974), also referred to as Kim Whan-ki or Kim Hwan-gi, was a painter who is best remembered for combining traditional Asian style with abstract conceptualism.
