Description
This is a very nice double-page map centered on the diocese of Fulda, northeast of Frankfurt, covering parts of the former border area between East and West Germany. Some of the other towns and cities shown include Alsfeld (Alzfeld), Meiningen (Meinungen), Ham(m)elburg and (Bad) Orb. There is great detail of topography, rivers, forests, towns, fortified cities, etc. The highly ornate title cartouche shows the Benedictine Abbey atop Mount St. Peter, built circa 800, and two saints.
