Rare presentation copy of Schliemann's major work recounting his discovery and excavation of Troy. Presentation bookplate printed "From the Author" to front pastedown, inscribed by Schliemann in ink "To Professor Max Müller." Frederick Max Müller was the greatest oriental scholar of his time, and is perhaps best known for his editing of the "Sacred Books of the East" series. Presentation copies of any book by Schliemann are extremely rare.

Condition

Rear cover dampstained; hinges cracked, broken at center of text; tears to some folding plates, about very good. Worthy of restoration.
