Yuan blue and white Chinese porcelain charger. The center body decorated with hand painting underglaze of two pheasants in a garden landscape of cobalt-blue glazed fruiting jujube and foliate enclosed of fruits and floral abundance on the rim. Chinese Taoists regarded jujube fruit as the food of immortality. Band of floral spray and wavy waters bordered along the outer rim. This inadvertently gave texture, energy and shading to the design. The base left unglazed, reveal the orangish creme ground with sporadic dark brown firing marks.
