East Asia, China, ca. 20th century CE. A pair of porcelain bowls made for export from China. The first is a large blue and white charger with a brown scalloped edge. The center is painted with a scene of two phoenixes in a floral setting, set within a geometrically-patterned border of cherry blossoms. The second is an enameled porcelain bowl whose interior is separated into four panels, each depicting a scene of figures or animals with borders of verdant flowers and vines. "Made in China" is stamped in red on the underside. Size of largest: 15.5" W x 1.45" H (39.4 cm x 3.7 cm)
Provenance: Estate of R. Pearson, Denver, Colorado, USA; Mr. Pearson collected from the third quarter of the 20th century until he passed away.; ex private New York, USA collection acquired at Arte Primitivo Gallery, New York, USA
