This is a coin generally found in grades ranging from AG to VG. But today we are proud to bring you this near Gem, ms64 Example. Aside from the first-year 1916 issue, the story of Standing Liberty key dates consists of S-mints: the 1918/7-S overdate, the 1923-S, and finally the 1927-S, which has the second-lowest mintage of any regular issue in the series. The date is decidedly scarce and a borderline condition rarity at the Near Gem level, where this gorgeous example falls. Silver centers have a slightly above-average strike, though Liberty's head is typically soft, and the borders show toning that ranges from pale gold to tan and deep amber and blue.
