Description
American Silver-Mounted Naval Dirk Owned by Edwin Booth , early 19th c., grooved pommel, double-edged diamond-shaped blade, the scabbard with oval frog stud, engraved "Dagger of Edwin Booth", and on the other side "George B. Penrose", blade 4 3/8 in., overall 8 in Provenance: Collection of Brooke and Maria Fox, Metairie, LA. Note: Edwin Booth (1833-1893) was the most famous Shakespearean actor in the 19th c., and brother of John Wilkes Booth, the assassin of Abraham Lincoln. It can be assumed that the George B.
