Eastern Africa, Horn of Africa, Ethiopia, Colonial Era, ca. early to mid 20th century CE. A beautiful personal stool, hand-carved from a caramel-hued hard wood, with a slightly concave seat resting atop a trio of crescent-shaped legs. A small integral rod extends between the upper and lower corners of each leg, and a small conical bulb is centered beneath the seat. Two of the legs have drilled holes through which a bronze-link chain is strung. Size: 8.125" W x 5.625" H (20.6 cm x 14.3 cm).

Condition
Minor abrasions to seat and legs, with light loosening to some chain links, and a few stable fissures, otherwise intact and very good. Light earthen deposits within some recessed areas. Stool and chain have developed a wonderful patina.
