Stefan Knapp (Poland/Great Britain) first exhibited in the mid-1950's with his experimental enamel on steel technique. In the 1960's, he created murals for Heathrow Airport, Warsaw metro, etc. In the 1970's, he painted on the exterior of Alexander's department store building in Paramus, New Jersey. Monumental baked enameled steel obelisk. From the upstate NY home of the original owners. The owners had a long standing relationship with Knapp and collected many of his works over many years. This piece was the largest and most expensive to produce. It exemplifies Knapp's painterly graphics applied strictly to geometric forms. Signed and dated 1995.
