George III J Chambley W. Hampton Tall Case. Fourth quarter 18th century mahogany tall case clock with broken arch with center turned finial. Holley inlaid rossets, oblong medallions above inlaid side columns with Corinthian capitals. Arch door with original glass hand painted portrait of gentleman above face. Hand painted face with roman numerals hours and Arabic minutes having a subsidiary second dial and date aperture engraved with rocaille ornament, the twin movement with anchor escapement striking on a bell. Hand painted corner with floral decoration and center with handing garland. Bonnet rest on cove molded rim above a cathedral door. Satin hand inlay to paneled sides, front borders and cut corners. Doors has mixed wood inlays in form of a lidded urn. Clock rest on scalloped apron with French feet. Original brass pendulum and iron weights. 90 1/4h
Condition
Overall very good, crack to glass, bonnet need to be pulled in slightly and minor wear to feet, working condition.
