EKET, NIGERIA, AFRICAN WOOD, DANCE WAND H 23", DIA 9" WITH BRASS, KOLA NUTS, FIBER Polychrome carved wood handle with two faces. Wood shaft having metal hardware and coiled metal elements. Bottom element having clustered nut shells and brass bell. On a black custom made metal plinth. Underside have deaccession label from the Detroit Institute of Arts. Provenance: Estate of Jack Faxon, Michigan Senator and creator of the Michigan Council for the Arts.
