Spanish Military Percussion Pistol with Lock dated "1848"
c. 1848, Spanish Military Percussion Pistol, with Lock Dated "1848", Very Fine.
This Spanish Military Percussion Pistol has a 6", .69 caliber smooth-bore barrel dated "1848" and numbered "138" on the left side of the breech. This Pistol is set up with a steel captive swivel ram rod. The lock has a rather ingenious addition in its construction with the cap protector that is moved forward when ready to fire. The lock is dated "1848" and numbered "138" on the tail of the lock plate. An unidentified inspector's mark, a "CROWN" and another unidentified Stamp "LAGA TI" is stamped in front of the percussion hammer. All Brass furniture of the pattern each with inspectors marks. The stock is solid with checkering along the upper portion of the grip area with light scratches and dings from years of service. Measures 12.25" overall length. All steel surfaces are in the bright with a few small areas of light pitting around the percussion bolster. A nice example in good mechanical working order.
