Description
C. W. Parker Amusement Company Abilene, Kansas - 1895 - 11" L x 13" T Outstanding Cratered Surface & Patina Not strangely, this gorgeous iron knockdown target looks a great deal like a carousel donkey with two young men riding on his back. Parker had begun to expand his shooting gallery business more broadly into an amusement device business, creating his first fully developed carousel in 1892. Parker's shooting gallery designs as carousel animals subliminally helps to build interest in riding the carousel also. For Parker, a trip to the carnival, circus or State Fair was meant to be an all embracing experience. The "Mule Riders" is a very scarce and desirable model found in Parker's catalogue of target figures.
