Description
In sepia brown and white, a total of seventeen pieces of a Staffordshire pottery child's tea service. Marked "May 753" in a belt cartouche on the bottom of the plates and saucers. The teapot, creamer and biscuit jar have no marks or signatures on the bottom indicating their age from the 1830's.
Known as Little Mae with Apron, the scene depicts a young girl with gathered eggs in her apron in front of a farmhouse.Â
Allerton took over this registered mark and reproduced this design in the 1880s, with his sets marked "C.A. & Sons" along the top of the cartouche.Â
