‘General History, Cyclopedia and Dictionary of Freemasonry’ is a book written and published by Robert Macoy, deputy Grand Master of the Masonic Lodge. His book was meant as a history of freemasonry as well as the definitions of technical terms used by members of the fraternity of masons. Macoy acknowledges the beginnings of freemasonry as vague but generally something to do with ancient religions of Egypt and Moses and the builders of the Kingdom of Tyre, moving throughout the Jewish religion with Solomon and into Rome during the time of Jesus, and on into England and the Americas.
