Description
1950s Erich Stauffer Mid-Century porcelain figurine, little girl with bluebird and flower pot in her arm, ArnArt, Japan. The label reads "Original ArnArt Creation".
The original ArtArt label is present, the bottom of the label with the country is cut off. There are no additional markings, indicating this is an early 1950s figurine [this trademark was registered on April 30th 1953].
ArnArt imported customized products, mainly via their US office located at 212 5th Avenue. During the mid-50's the company decided to present an own series of figurines; this decision was based on the popularity of the Hummel figurines produced by the German Goebel company. Arnart therefore employed the US designer Erich Stauffer.
There are no add. markings indicating this figurine was designed by Erich Stauffer. However, it is a beautiful work of art in Hummel style. It is a complicated work concerning the composition, with manually extra designed and added flowers and the bird. The majority of such figurines, even original Hummels, are simply molded without such extensive extras.
Only Erich Stauffer is known to create such figurines for the ArnArt Company.
