Description
International Hummel, Slovakian boy playing bagpipe. This piece has a square base with hole in center. No M I Hummel signature. No trademarks. Base is made just like Hum 831 Slovak. Sculptor Reinhold Unger. Crown era. Hummel measures approx. 5 1/2", TMK-0, Hum 833. No cracks, tiny chip on base edge in front of shoes. Slight crazing. According to Deeks, boy has feather from cap to right shoulder that has been restored, but he did not know where. No box. See our other auction lots for more rare large and small M.I. Provenance: From the estate collection of Donald Deeks (1931-2020) of Venice, Florida, who assembled what is purported to be one of the most important collections of rare Hummel figurines in existence. Blackwell Auctions has been commissioned by his family to sell the entire collection of about 2,000 pieces, many of them either unique or nearly so.
