Description
Rare Hummel, Puppy Love. This piece has head tilted to the right and the boy does not have a tie. It is made of porcelain instead of the ceramic used as the standard material. It is painted in the standard color scheme, except for the flesh tones, which appear to be unpainted. Cheeks appear to have some reddening. AKA "Little Violinist", first modeled by Arthur Moeller in 1935. Hummel measures approx. 5", TMK-1 + 1, Hum 1. No cracks, chips, crazing or repairs. No box. See our other auction lots for more rare large and small M.I. Hummel and Goebel figurines. Provenance: From the estate collection of Donald Deeks (1931-2020) of Venice, Florida, who assembled what is purported to be one of the most important collections of rare Hummel figurines in existence. Blackwell Auctions has been commissioned by his family to sell the entire collection of about 2,000 pieces, many of them either unique or nearly so.
