Description
Hummel, Arithmetic Lesson. This piece is an early sample. Modeled by Arthur Moeller in 1955. Originally called "School Lesson". Boy is similar to middle boy in "School Boys" and girl from "School Girls". The Hum Number is colored black for easy photography. Bottom has printed "(c) by W. Goebel". This item not presently in production when purchased (2002). Listed on factory records as PFE, possible future edition. Hummel measures approx. 5 1/4" tall, TMK-2, Hum 303. No cracks, chips, crazing or repairs. No box. See our other auction lots for more rare large and small M.I. Hummel and Goebel figurines. Provenance: From the estate collection of Donald Deeks (1931-2020) of Venice, Florida, who assembled what is purported to be one of the most important collections of rare Hummel figurines in existence. Blackwell Auctions has been commissioned by his family to sell the entire collection of about 2,000 pieces, many of them either unique or nearly so.
