Original vintage travel advertising poster titled Windsor - See Britain by Train, published by the British Railways with a classical artwork featuring onlookers by the river bank observing the the Queen's Royal Barge, a highly ornate row boat in gold, blue and red. Windsor castle can be seen in the distance. The artwork is by artist Gordon Nicoll, who studied at Southampton Art School and at Hornsey under Frank Hillyard Swinstead. He was a member of the London Sketch Club. A landscape painter in watercolour and oil, he designed posters for the London North & Eastern Railway (LNER), including a series featuring railway hotels. The poster was published by the British Railways and printed in the UK by Charles and Read Ltd. Acceptable condition, staining, creasing, repaired tears, restored paper loss at top left corner.
