Description

1977 FEDERALIST PAPERS, ALEXANDER HAMILTON, JAMES MADISON, JOHN JAY

A Book of Articles We Should All Read which leads up to the Ratification of our Constitution.

Franklin Library leather edition of The Federalist by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and John Jay, a Limited edition, one of the 100 GREATEST BOOKS OF ALL TIME, published in 1977.

The Federalist is a collection of 85 articles and essays promoting the ratification of the United States Constitution.

In Federalist No. 10, Madison discusses the means of preventing rule by majority faction and advocates a large, commercial republic, which is generally regarded as the most important of the 85 articles from a philosophical perspective.

Alexander Hamilton, who lived from 1755 to 1804, was a founding father of the U.S., chief staff aide to General George Washington, and one of the most influential interpreters and promoters of the U.S. Constitution, the founder of the nation's financial system, the founder of the Federalist Party, the worlds first voter-based political party, and the Father of the U.S. Coast Guard.

As the first Secretary of the Treasury, Hamilton was the primary author of the economic policies of the George Washington administration. James Madison, Jr., who lived from 1751 to 1836, was an American statesman, political theorist, and the fourth President of the U.S. from 1809 to 1817.

He is hailed as the Father of the Constitution for being instrumental in the drafting of the U.S. Constitution and as the key champion and author of the Bill of Rights.
