Description

Heavily illustrated book with hundreds of pen and ink illustrations from top nineteenth century illustrators, many of them full-page. Illustrations by A. Barraud, W. H. J. Boot, Frank Dadd, M. E. Edwards, H. Giacomelli, M. L. Gow, C. Gregory, E. Blair Leighton, P. MacQuoid, W. Small, E. Wagoner, W. J. Wylie and many others. Illustrations are based on the four seasons. Nice copy of a scarce book that's usually not found in collectible condition, if found at all. Published 1884 by Cassell & Company, Limited (fifth edition). Minor soiling to covers but no stains or anything serious. Rubbing to edges but nothing is worn through. Rubbing at spine ends with small bit of rubbing through at extreme outside portions. Gilt design on cover and spine is still quite vivid. All edges gilt. Hinges tight. Minor foxing to title page and a few other pages. Soil spots to a number of pages where fingers have touched the pages over the years. 8 x 10.5. 192 pp.
