Chinese Silver-Inlaid Bronze Ritual Tripod, Warring States Period Style. The globular vessel raised on three cabriole legs, applied with a pair of bail handles and a spout, with a shallow fitted domed cover with single loose ring, inlaid in silver alloy with eleven characters and concentric banding of diagonal-scroll patterning interspersed with quatrefoil flower heads, with handsome mottled verdigris patination. Inscription: , _x000B_Translation: Sheng commissioned to create this tripod vessel in the hopes of gaining protection for ten thousand years of future generations. Warring States period, 3rd century BCE or later. {Approximate width: 8 1/4 inches (21 cm)}. Provenance: Property from a San Francisco collection.
