Beth van Hoesen (American, b. 1926). Boris, 1981. Etching. Signed and dated in pencil in margin lower right and titled lower left margin and numbered 'H.C. 2/3' lower center margin. Measures 15.25 in. high x 17.75 in. wide (with frame 23.25 in. high x 25.5 in. wide).
Condition: In apparently excellent condition. No apparent problems to note. Not examined outside of frame.Â
Born in Boise, Idaho in 1926, Beth van Hoesen received her degree at Stanford University and studied in France at the Academie Julien in Paris and the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Fountainbleu as well as at the San Francisco Art Institute. Her most influential teachers at the San Francisco Art Institute were Clyfford Still and David Park. She has exhibited at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Philadelphia. Her works can be found in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, Chicago Art Institute, Norton Simon Museum, Pasadena, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Victoria and Albert Museum of London.Â
