A VERY LARGE GRISAILLE WINTER LANDSCAPE VASE, BY THE RENOWND ARTIST HE XUREN WHO LIVED FROM 1882 TO 1940.THE VASE IS DATED 1924. It is one of a pair, of which we previously sold the other. The large vase of baluster form is masterfully decorated with a snowy, mountainous river landscape with a pavilion, rocks and a boat. It depicts people coming home to the snow covered village, leaving their footsteps in the snow. The vase is inscribed with a poem. The words read :Auspicious snow greets spring，XUREN HE in Early fall 1924 AD, this vase was made in Zhusha. This is an unusually large vase of 17 inches in height. A similar, slightly smaller vase sold at Christies SALE 9598, lot number 1239 at the Chinese Ceramics, Works of Art and Textiles London, South Kensington, 8 November 2013.
