Pre-Columbian, central coast Peru, Chancay, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. An amusing example of a pair of stylized anthropomorphic dolls riding inside a narrow boat. Both figures and the boat are constructed from camelid (alpaca or llama wool) fibers, with the boat fibers embellished with blue and brown pigments, and the figures' fibers with red, white, black, beige, and brown. Between the two figures is a smaller, abstract anthropomorphic figure, perhaps meant as a 'doll' for the dolls. Size: 10.5" L x 4" H (26.7 cm x 10.2 cm)

Expected fraying to some fibers on figures and boat, with fading and light staining to pigment, otherwise intact and very good. Nice remains of thread coloration throughout.
