German beer pitcher, late 19th century, executed in glazed pottery having a pewter lid and thumb lift, above an urn form body, decorated with men in Renaissance dress raising steins of beer, framed by floral sprays in pink, slate blue, and gilt, having text reading 'Prosit' (cheers); 'Die alten Deutschen tranken noch eins ehe sie gingen' (The old Germans drank one more before they left); 'Jeder deutsche Zecher hat seinen eignen Becher,' (Each German drinker has his own beaker); marked #1252 A, 14.5"h x 6"l x 5.5"w.
