Description
Kirk Gibson is a name lots of fans from Detroit to Los Angeles know and hold in high regard. In his Detroit days, game five of the World Series saw Gibby launch a Goose Gossage pitch into the right field upper deck for a three run homer and a Detroit Tigers World Series victory. That wouldn't be the last for Gibson. In 1988, when it appeared as though the Dodgers were going to lose game one of the World Series, fans started filing out of the stadium to try and beat traffic out of the ballpark. Gibson wasn't on the roster that day due to leg and knee injuries. Lasorda put him in the game in the 9th inning, Dodgers trailing, the count was full when Gibson hit a home run to take the Dodgers to victory. Vin Scully some years later recalled looking out into the parking lot as all the cars were leaving and the lot lit up with brake lights, all those people missed a home run for the ages. This ball comes with a Global Authentication COA and has been kept in the Rawlings baseball original box.
