He published a book recounting the events of his journeys in South Africa where he recounts large game and dangerous encounters! Notable African missionary David Livingstone was highly critical of Cumming’s hunting excursions, but he noted that Cumming’s book (‘Five Years of a Hunter’s Life’) accurately portrayed big game hunting in South Africa.
