STRAUS OSCAR: (1870-1954) Viennese Composer of operettas and film scores, and Conductor. Straus deliberately omitted the final 's' of his name, since he wished not to be associated with the musical Strauss family of Vienna. A.M.Q.S., `Oscar Straus´, also dated in Vichy, June 1939, in his hand. Straus has penned a four bars of unidentified music, signed beneath in blue fountain pen ink. The present musical quotation was signed in France in 1939, following the Nazi Anchluss, when Oscar Straus fled to Paris to be appointed Knight of the Legion d´Honneur. Folded. VG
