Description
Second half 19th century, 214 x 160 cm, South West Caucasus
Three large hexagonal medallions with hooked outlines, each enclosing a cartouche, lie in the red field; halved or quartered hooked diamonds with a mosaic-style interior design are aligned along its sides. Purchased by the collector from Ulrich Schürmann in Cologne in 1976. – Slightly damaged original selvedges, the upper kilim finish survives, minimally reduced at the bottom. Uniformly low pile, corroded brown sections.
