Description
Truschel, William K. C. (Self Taught Folk Artist worked near Pittsburgh; 20th Century American), Roses Are Blooming In Jeopardy, 1962, oil on masonite panel, 24 x 30 inches, signed KCT 62 lower right, titled on reverse with paper label with title and signature. K.C. Truschel was an unknown, self-taught painter from Bradford Woods near Pittsburgh. He painted from 1962-1967 and his work was never shown during his lifetime. His paintings often display themes of manÂ’s shortcomings. His work was exhibited at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts in 2002. Provenance: The Estate of Bruce Baker, Pittsburgh, Pa., framed with strip wood frame. This painting is a fascinating satire based on Khrushchev's visit to Pittsburgh in 1959. Apparently Truschel is commenting on the locals "brown nosing" the Soviet Leader.
