Description
New York, circa 1765
. The highly figured fold-over mahogany top with serpentine-front and sides, opening to form a playing surface supported by the rectangular box-frame and a swing-leg, the lower edge of the skirt of cyma-shaped outline and the skirt centered by a carved fan, all above four shell and bellflower-carved cabriole legs ending in claw and ball feet.
Inscriptions: The underside of the top has an 18th century chalk inscription "TVW", possibly the initials of a member of the prominent Dutch family, the Van Wyck's.

Condition
The swing gate and three knee-returns have been replaced. Surface has been cleaned at some point but the mahogany retains a mellow patina.
