Old antique historical Civil War book titled; "THE GREAT WAR RELIC Together With A SKETCH OF MY LIFE, SERVICE IN THE ARMY and how I LOST MY FEET SINCE THE WAR..." by Chas L. Cummings, 28th MI Volunteer Infantry. Not dated but probably circa 1894. Research finding a few other copies with a different printed paper cover suggests this may be an earlier if not first edition. Includes history, anecdotes, poetry, statistics, etc. One page is titled "The Army of Wooden Legs" and conjectures about the men with wooden legs who must be "dying off". Appears to have been written by the author to raise money for financial self support. Book contains approximately 48 printed pages and is about 5-3/4" x 8-3/4". Condition: detached front cover. missing back cover. overall soiling and staining, edge wear and tears. Please see scans for additional condition review.
