Civil War figure on horseback, battling an American Indian. Signed H. Trabandt, numbered 4/10 and dated 1978. Hugh Trabandt was from Colorado Springs and spent his entire life with horses. His artistic talent and handson knowledge of the horse made him one of America's most talented animal bronze sculptors. Trabandt's bronzes range in theme from American wildlife to world wildlife and endangered species, Civil War scenes and adventurous moments of the Old West, with particular emphasis on the role and majesty of the horse.
