Description
Utagawa Yoshitsuya (Japanese, 1822-1866), also known as Koko Yoshitsuya, and Ichieisai Yoshitsuya. Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock print on laid paper. Titled ISOLATED FORTRESS, a scene with a castle and a profusion of Samurai and caste warriors in traditional costume. The 49th scene in a series of 54 scenes by Yoshitsuya, a student of Kuniyoshi. Retaining labels from gallery on verso. Presented in a black lacquer frame. Good condition with mild wear to frame. Measures 13 3/4 in. x 9 1/2 in. (sight), 22 1/2 in. x 17 1/2 in. (framed).
