Description
A group with two antique bound books, finely applied Japanese calligraphy characters on exquisitely drawn linen pages; and a wooden hand carved koi fish produced as a decorative lever for an adjustable pothook called a jizaikagi, which is traditionally employed with Japanese sunken hearth, or irori, which is used for heating the home and for cooking food. Fish includes hanging cord and hardware. Good antique condition, the books have rich patina and age related wear to covers but pages have held up very nicely; fish has excellent patina throughout with minor wear and loss. Measures 14 1/2 in. x 5 3/4 in. (books), 17 in. x 5 1/2 in. (fish). Hill Auction Gallery in house continental USA shipping $85 plus insurance.
