Description
Francisco Goya y Lucientes (Spanish, 1746-1828). Etching in brown ink, titled "PICADOR AND BULL." A rare recorded proof, with embossed stamp to lower right. Includes original original gallery tag and 1967 provenance receipt from PLAZA ART GALLERIES, formerly New York City's oldest auction gallery, both affixed. The artist, Goya, is considered the most important Spanish painter of the late 18th and early 19th centuries; he is often referred to as both the last of the Old Masters and the first of the moderns. Presented in a decorative antique wooden frame. Good overall condition, normal wear to frame. Measures 7 3/4 in. x 12 in. (sight window), 16 1/2 in. x 20 1/4 in. (framed).
