Description
A pair of Elizabeth I Russian 84 zolotnik (875 standard) silver beakers, Moscow 1744 by Grigory Lakomkin (active 1736-69) Each of tapering cylindrical form with moulded rim, the bodies with embossed decoration of oval cartouches reserved with foliate scrolls, texturing, and a grotesque mask below. One cartouche with an embossed rooster upon a stone walk, the other with a putto holding a palm branch. One beaker later engraved with an English crest of a talbot passant with initials N del A.G in gothic script. Each marked underneath with makers mark (ГЛ), town mark with date letter and assayers mark Grigoriev Kuzma (active 1741-49).
