Description
A mid – 20th century Iranian (Persian) silver sugar and cream set on tray, Isfahan circa 1972 mark of Rabii, retailed by Pirayesh Pahlavi dynasty, a twin handled covered sugar bowl, milk/cream jug and a rectangular tray with rounded corners. The baluster milk and sugar on spreading collet feet, each with applied C scroll handles. The bodied with deep chased monabbat-kari decoration of peony cartouches between vignettes heightened with engraved ghalam zani decoration. The sugar bowl with a chased scroll and pellet rim, the domed lid surmounted by a pyriform finial, bordered with ring punched flower head panels and and engraved ghalam zani peony border. The tray with a central medallion of strap work arabesque within a scalloped border edged with ring punching, reserved with deep chased monabbat-kari peonies as well as nightingales attending rose heads (gul-o-bolbol), bordered with a rosette and twist band, the rim chased the same. Each marked underneath with standard mark (84) workshop mark ربیعی and retailers mark (PH in cypher). The sugar bowl lid unmarked.
