Description
A LARGE CHINESE CARVED HARDWOOD MODEL OF A BOY FARMER RIDING AN OX, 20TH CENTURY, the barefoot rider with his conical hat hanging behind him, gripping the rope that guides the beast's nose, the animal's head, turned dexter, showing large heavily lidded eyes and bell-form hollowed ears under ridged curved back horns, in mid stride with its tail flicked to one side. Height: 19 1/4" Width: 21 1/5" Depth: 11"
Condition
A number of worn and scratched areas, as well as overall age cracks and separation. There is a complete fissure in the ox's tail, in addition to patches on the animal's stomach and hip that have been repaired. No apparent markings or signature.
